What is the Florida Energy Saver Program?

Floridians are interested in how they can save energy and cut costs now more than ever. To meet this growing need, the Florida Energy Saver Program will assist Floridians in reducing their energy costs and improving home comfort through qualified energy efficiency upgrades, retrofits, and high-efficiency appliances. With the support of approximately $346 million in federal funding, Florida will provide two rebate programs through a single application process to maximize benefits to Floridian households. Through this program, participants will receive the rebate in the form of a discount on the eligible products and installation completed by a qualified contractor. Learn more about each rebate program below.

Home Efficiency Rebates (HOMES) Program

The HOMES Program provides single-family and multifamily households with discounts for efficiency upgrades that are predicted to save at least 20% of the home’s energy use. HOMES offers rebates for energy-saving home improvements, including insulation and efficient heating/cooling equipment.

Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates (HEAR) Program

The HEAR Program is exclusively for low- and moderate-income households (less than 150% Area Median Income) to purchase high-efficiency equipment. HEAR will provide rebates to households installing heat pumps and other efficient, electric equipment.

When Will the Florida Energy Saver Program Happen?

The Florida Energy Saver program will take place in stages over the next year. In the beginning, the program will focus on HEAR, which help low-and-moderate income households save money when buying certain appliances. Keep in mind that not everyone will qualify. Whether you can take part depends on different factors, like your household income.
